Welcome to my shop! My name is Gabriela and I’m the creator and owner of Agjewelry. This project began in the summer of 2020, when the pandemic reached Puerto Rico. At the time, I was studying for an associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology, planning to later pursue a bachelor’s in Environmental Microbiology. I had been looking for a job since I started university, but nothing came through. I handed out countless résumés in different places, but it simply wasn’t in God’s plans. During the slow and quiet days of the pandemic, I wanted to buy jewelry, but I didn’t have the budget for it. So I bought three pliers, two rolls of wire, a few stones, and used some old pieces of jewelry I had stored away to create new ones. Shortly after, I bought more stones and stainless steel materials, posted the pieces on my personal page, and ended up selling all of them. I received so much support from friends and family that I was honestly amazed. There were many moments when I didn’t have sales, had ups and downs, but I stayed consistent and didn’t give up. This project became my job from day one and it supported me throughout my university years, I dedicated all my time to it. After finishing my bachelor’s degree, I decided to continue working full-time on the shop. I’m currently in a new stage of life: motherhood. So far, it has been a beautiful and unique experience. I made a promise to myself to keep moving forward with the shop even in this new chapter, because I want to show that mothers can achieve professional success and continue pursuing their dreams.
